Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, call us at (303) 838-8383 — we pick up.

  • Does insurance cover windshield replacement in Colorado?

Most comprehensive auto insurance policies cover windshield replacement. Colorado law (CRS 10-4-613) requires insurers to offer zero-deductible glass coverage as an add-on. If you carry comprehensive coverage, there is a very good chance your windshield replacement costs you nothing out of pocket. Call us and we will check your coverage before we schedule.

  • Will my insurance rates go up after a glass claim?

No. Glass claims fall under comprehensive coverage, not collision. Insurance rates are based on driving record, age, vehicle type, and credit history — not glass replacement claims. Filing a claim for your windshield will not raise your rates. We explain this to every customer before they decide whether to go through insurance.

  • Can my insurance company force me to use a specific glass shop?

No. Under Colorado Revised Statute 10-4-613, you have the absolute right to choose your own auto glass provider. Your insurance company may recommend their preferred vendors, but they cannot require you to use them. You choose us — we handle the rest.

  • Do you bill insurance directly?

Yes. We are a preferred provider with all major carriers and bill them directly. Have your policy number and agent name or phone number ready when you call. We handle all the paperwork, contact your insurer, and get authorization before we schedule your appointment. Hassle-free for you from start to finish.

  • How long does windshield replacement take?

The installation itself takes 60-90 minutes. However, the urethane adhesive needs time to cure before you should drive — typically 1 hour under normal Colorado conditions, longer in cold weather. We use cold-weather-rated adhesive that performs reliably even in Denver winters. We give you the exact safe-drive-away time before we leave.

  • Can a chip or crack be repaired, or does the whole windshield need replacing?

Most single chips and short cracks under 6 inches can be repaired with professional resin injection. Repairs are not appropriate when the damage is in the driver's direct line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass, or has multiple legs spreading from the impact point. We assess every chip honestly — if repair is the right call, we say so. If replacement is the only safe option, we tell you that too.

  • How soon can I drive after a windshield replacement?

We recommend waiting at least 1 hour after installation under normal conditions. In cold Colorado weather (below 40°F), we extend that to 2 hours to allow full adhesive cure. Do not run your car through a car wash for 24 hours and leave any retention tape we apply in place for 24 hours as well. We provide full post-install care instructions at every appointment.

  • Do you come to me, or do I have to bring my vehicle to a shop?

We come to you. Mobile service is our default, not an upgrade. We dispatch to homes, offices, parking lots, jobsites, and driveways across the Denver Metro, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder, and statewide by appointment. If you are parked somewhere we can reach, we can work there.

  • What vehicles do you service?

We service all makes and models — passenger cars, trucks, SUVs, Teslas and other EVs, luxury vehicles, semi trucks (Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, International, Volvo, Sterling), RVs and motorhomes, heavy construction equipment, and commercial vehicles. If it has glass, we replace it.

  • What is ADAS calibration and why do I need it?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — the suite of safety technologies built into modern vehicles including lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rain sensors, and heads-up displays. Most of these systems use cameras and sensors mounted to or near the windshield. When the windshield is replaced, the camera position changes by fractions of a millimeter, which is enough to throw off the calibration. Driving without recalibration after replacement means your safety systems are not working correctly. This is a critical safety issue, not an upsell.

  • Does my vehicle need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement?

If your vehicle was manufactured after roughly 2012 and has any camera-based safety systems, yes. This includes most modern vehicles with features like lane keep assist, forward collision warning, or automatic emergency braking. We identify your ADAS configuration when you call for a quote and include calibration in the job when required. We were the first in Colorado to offer mobile ADAS calibration.

  • What ADAS systems do you calibrate?

We calibrate all camera-based and radar-based ADAS systems including forward-facing cameras (lane departure, automatic braking), rear cameras, surround-view systems, rain and light sensors, and heads-up display alignment. We work on all makes and models using OEM-grade calibration equipment.

  • What is electrochromic tint and how does it work?

Electrochromic tint uses a tungsten oxide core sandwiched in multilayered glass that changes tint level when a small electrical current is applied. PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film works differently — liquid crystals align when voltage is applied, making the film transparent, and scatter when voltage is removed, creating an opaque state. Both technologies give you on-demand control over light, heat, and privacy. The transition takes 1-3 seconds and is controlled by a physical switch, remote, or smartphone app.

  • Can you install smart glass on a Tesla?

Yes. Tesla panoramic roofs are one of the most popular applications for PDLC smart film. We custom-cut and laminate the film to fit the glass panel precisely, integrate with the vehicle's 12V electrical system, and install the control switch. The result is a roof that goes fully clear to privacy-dark at the touch of a button — no more heat blanket on your head on a Denver summer afternoon.

  • Does smart glass work on residential and commercial windows too?

Yes. PDLC smart film is applicable to any glass — vehicle, residential, or commercial. We install smart film on conference room glass, home skylights, bathroom windows, and any application where switchable privacy is useful. The installation process and technology are the same as in vehicles.

  • How much does windshield replacement cost in Denver?

Windshield replacement ranges from roughly $200 for a basic passenger car to $600+ for vehicles with ADAS sensors, heated glass, or premium OEM specs. We price at half dealer cost and beat any written quote. If your insurance covers it, your out-of-pocket is often zero. Call us with your year, make, and model for an exact quote in minutes.

  • Do you beat competitor prices?

Yes. We price all services at half dealer cost and back it with a price-beat guarantee. If you have a written quote from another glass shop for the same work and materials, bring it to us and we will beat it. We maintain this guarantee because we stock 1,000+ windshields and have the purchasing volume to offer better pricing without cutting corners on glass quality.

  • What should I do and not do after a windshield replacement?

For the first 24 hours: do not go through a car wash, do not slam your doors (the pressure spike can disturb the adhesive cure), leave any retention tape in place, and do not remove the windshield's protective packaging if we left any. For the first hour: do not drive unless you have the safe-drive-away clearance from your technician. After 24 hours: normal use resumes completely. We provide specific care instructions at every installation.

  • How do I care for paint protection film after installation?

Wait 48 hours after installation before washing the vehicle. For the first 30 days, hand wash only — no automatic car washes. Avoid pressure washing directly at the film edges. After 30 days, normal washing is fine. The self-healing properties of 3M PPF activate with heat — minor swirl marks and light scratches disappear with sun exposure or a warm water rinse.

  • What is your warranty?

We back all workmanship and materials with a lifetime warranty. If a windshield we installed ever leaks, separates, or fails due to installation error, we fix it at no charge. Our glass carries the manufacturer's warranty against defects. Window tint, paint protection film, and vehicle wraps are all covered by both the manufacturer's film warranty and our installation lifetime guarantee.
